Bertie's story
Bertie was going to a new home as a stud subject to PKDef and PRA testing, but was jilted at the alter at the last minute. His test results were clear and his registration documents had already been sent to the GCCF. As the change of plan was very last minute, he stayed on whilst alternative arrangements were made. This wasn't hard as everybody who met him fell in love with him and he had several offers, but he needed to go somewhere that would fit in with my plans for him (somebody who would take him as a pet entire and allow him to father a litter from Pollyanna before neutering him, in the hope of a litter of clear silvers with his sunny temperament). The change of plan was because I could not bear to part with him, and the friends who were taking him took another cat instead but still get the chance to see him regularly.
So he has stayed on living in the home as a pet entire (and this is not a contradiction in terms) and will sire Polly's next litter. He is not aware of the fact that he is a "stud" as he is treated like all the other cats (pets) so does not spray or do any of the things studs supposedly do.
Bertie has a super temperament and is a perfect gentleman. Bertie is a clear silver with a lovely plume. He fulfilled his duties to Polly and produced a lovely litter of silver kittens, with good profiles/heads, all of whom have his superb temperament and manners. He is not at open stud as we do not have stud facilities but lives in the home, and will only be used to friends approved queens. He is a modern man, and shares in nursery duties regardless of what relation the kittens are to him (offspring or full siblings) and is very tolerant of having kittens perched all over him.
He is very easy going, very gentle and likes most things. He knows who his mother is and she only has to raise a paw and he reverts to kittenhood (amusing as he is twice her size). He is not regarded as a threat to their kittens by any of the females, who oddly enough think the neutered male (Raffles) is.
His vices are: the resident shredder, loves shredding paper and cardboard and has an addiction to pastries. He also loves digging in bags of granules (sugar, salt, cat litter etc) and sends them flying into little piles. When told off he gives a little chirrup, arches his back and gives a cute look.
He loves playing games in the garden which is why he is wearing a collar, as he can run faster than me!
His mother Sorafel Leonora had her third litter to Tajura Kuckunniwi (their kittens are on the current kitten page). It's rather flattering that potential kitten owners look at the new litter of his full siblings and immediately ask will they look like him!
I am glad that he turned out to be such a very special boy.
Photos will be uploaded of him at work and play shortly!

Now one year old, and a father Bertie and Ben his 2nd son.
